Local Information
Maison 174 is 8km from the beach and 800m from a bakers, shop and butchers, all located in Lanhouarneau village square. There is a bar and the Mairie also acts as a Post Office.There's a garage on the outskirts of the village on the D29 towards Plouescat and Keremma (the closest beach). The D788 west, out of Lanhouarneau takes you to Lesneven, a larger market town. This has the bigger supermarkets (Casino, E.Leclerc) and a broader range of shops.

Eating Out
For family-friendly meals the Creperie au Chateau de Kerjean (http://patandcoco.free.fr) is close by, reasonably priced and serves fresh pizzas, meat dishes and traditional Breton crepes. It also has a large garden/play area. For something more gastronomic, Les Voyageurs at Berven has an excellent reputation. The menu costs between 15 and 50 Euros, wine is additional. Roscoff has a large selection of restaurants, especially those offering fresh seafood.
Things To Do:
- Beaches - Karemma, Porsmeur, Santec, Cleder and Roscoff are closest and have a wide range of facilities.
- Plouescat offers sand yachting, kite surfing, sailing and wind-surfing. www.tourisme-plouescat.com
- L'ile de Batz is a 20 minute ferry ride from Roscoff and ideal for exploring by bicycle (there are places to hire by the hour, or up to a day). The island is car free and offers a taste of traditional Breton life. It has a lighthouse, secluded bays and numerous cafes and restaurants.
- Le Chateau de Kerjean is open all year and is just a short drive from Maison 174. Built during the Renaissance period it's gothic architecture and large grounds are ideal for exploring and picnicing in. www.chateau-de-kerjean.com
- Brest is an ancient, naval port with historic ramparts and also has the Oceanapolis aquarium. www.oceanopolis.com/2008_intro.php. Every four years Brest hosts an international tall ships event which is not to be missed.
- Morlaix is another ancient, walled town with a viaduct and port that dates back to the Roman era. The town has shops, boutiques and plenty or restaurants to try local delicacies like fish, crepes and cider. www.ville.morlaix.fr
